How to color sand for sand unity ceremony
Wedding Sand Unity Set Available at Etsy.com/shop/MintJulepsnMuddin

With the popularity of sand unity ceremonies in weddings, colored sand is in demand. Prices of these sands vary from $3.95 a pound to $7.00 a pound. Folks, don't pay big money for colored sand. It is just too simple to do it yourself.

Supplies:

White Sand (You will have to buy the craft sand) Play Sand will not work as well. The Dollar Tree is now selling this in its craft section.
Food Coloring
Disposable Gloves
Bucket or Bowl (must be one that you don't care if it gets dyed)
Newspaper

Dump about a pound of sand into a bucket or bowl. Pour 1/2 teaspoon of food coloring into sand and mix with your gloved hand. Add more food coloring until the desired color is reached. Spread on Newspaper and allow to air dry. Once dry, store in Ziploc or similar container until you're ready to use.
