Simple Broccoli Cheese Soup Recipe

1 Steam in bag Broccoli
1 can of Progresso 3 Cheese Recipe Starter
1 can of milk
1 can of whole milk
1 can of water
1 8oz. bag of Mild Cheddar Cheese
1 stick of Butter
1 Onion (diced)
Garlic Salt and fresh Ground Black Pepper to taste.

Cook broccoli according to directions.

In a large pot, melt butter. Toss onions into butter and cook until caramelized. Pour broccoli in with onions and cook for 5 minutes. Stir in garlic salt and black pepper. Pour in Progresso, canned milk, whole milk and water. Stir constantly. Bring to a boil. Allow to boil for 20 minutes, then stir in cheese. Continue to cook for 10 more minutes and allow to cool before serving.

If you have large pieces of broccoli in the soup, you can use a potato masher to cut them. Please make sure you have allowed the soup to cool before doing so.

This recipe does not call for flour or any other thickener; it will thicken without it.

  1. Hi! I was a little confused by your recipe since it calls for 1 can of milk and then 1 can of whole milk? Could you clarify? Thanks!

Thank you for asking. Yes, I used both canned and whole milk. I should have explained that instead of measuring, I simply poured my whole milk into the empty canned milk can. Hope this helps.
